This analysis explores the factors that led to the outbreak of civil war in Yemen in 2015. The text's author particularly highlights 1) the failure of the 2011 transition agreement to end the influence of the powerful patronage networks created by the Salih regime, and 2) the parallel marginalization of the Huthis group. He also discusses Saudi Arabia's intervention in the conflict and the ongoing attempts by the international community to negotiate a settlement between the warring parties.
