This brief contends that national self-interest rather than a desire for regional stability is the reason why individual countries have contributed troops to the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). To support his claim, the brief's author analyzes the self-interested roles of Ethiopia and Kenya within AMISOM, which he also believes represents a case of “fragmented peacekeeping” within Somalia.
