This paper looks at where the current US-India bilateral relationship both converges and diverges. The text’s authors specifically argue that for both global and structural reasons, the two countries' interests are indeed converging together, but not enough to justify a formal alliance. To support their claim, the authors analyze the impediments that stand in the way of closer ties, including national security concerns, armaments sales, the “Iran conundrum” and the “China factor.”
