This paper examines how the Schengen system is holding up under the mass migration experienced by its members in 2015. It concludes that 1) the system is not in crisis and is indeed here to stay, and 2) reports about the reintroduction of internal border checks are exaggerated, particularly since they would be in full compliance with the EU rule of law model laid down in the Schengen Borders Code and subject to scrutiny by the European Commission.
