This memo contemplates how the US should plan for a possible military clash between China and India. It specifically focuses on 1) the circumstances which could trigger such a conflict; 2) the warning indicators that might precede such an event; 3) the possible impact such a confrontation might have on US interests; and 4) the options available to US policy makers to either prevent or mitigate such a crisis.
