This paper examines the EU’s past cooperation with Morocco on border controls, the readmission of irregular migrants, and the reception of asylum-seekers and refugees. The text’s authors argue that the lessons learned from this relationship confirm a salient fact – the EU’s approach towards third country involvement on migration issues is not feasible or appropriate. In response, the text's authors recommend ways that the EU can fix this problem.
