In this transcript, the US Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, Ambassador Donald Booth, discusses the preliminary peace agreement signed in August 2015 by Salva Kiir, South Sudan's President, and Riek Machar. Booth particularly focuses on six areas that remain relevant to the ongoing peace process in the country -- 1) managing regional dynamics; 2) ensuring inclusive peacemaking (i.e., involving non-elite voices; 3) accommodating divergent views on reconciliation and justice; 4) confronting the economic drivers of instability and conflict; 5) sustaining African and international engagement after the conclusion of a final agreement; and 6) funding the peace process.
