This brief discusses the ongoing issues confronting Japan's nuclear power industry, five years after the 2011 Fukushima meltdown. The brief's author specifically examines 1) who was really responsible for the Fukushima disaster; 2) current Japanese attitudes towards nuclear power, to include the domestic politics surrounding the issue; and 3) how Japan's ability to sell and manage nuclear power plants in other countries has been affected since the accident in 2011.
