The study assesses the influence of Russian economic policy and growth on the nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) since the 1991 collapse of the Soviet Union. The author examines how the traditional areas of strength in Russia's influence on CIS economic performance has declined, while new economic linkages have emerged. The study also evaluates the impact of new growth hubs in Europe and Asia on the CIS countries and Russian economic influence in the CIS areas.
