This commentary puts Sweden’s recent counterintelligence report on hostile Russian activities in its region within a broader, more comparative perspective. Among other topics, the text’s author focuses on 1) the Russian Threat Estimate generated by the Swedish Security Service; 2) Moscow’s recent demonstrations of force against Sweden; and 3) Russia’s activities in other countries in the region. Basically, the Putin regime is relying on not-so-subtle threats to pressure the Nordic countries into behaving in the “right” way.
