This commentary explores China’s response to US-South Korea discussions, which began in February 2016, on the possible deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system on the Korean Peninsula. The author specifically focuses on what he sees as the unjustified reasons why China is so opposed to the deployment, even though it doesn't pose a direct threat to the Chinese mainland.
