This paper examines the status of Tunisia’s ongoing socio-political transition five years after the demise of the Ben Ali government. The paper’s conclusions include the following: 1) Tunisia has made political progress since 2010, but its socio-economic policies have not altered significantly; 2) there is an institutional crisis of legitimacy brewing in the country, primarily because of "policy continuities" that exists between the post- and pre-transition governments; 3) the disenchantment is particularly strong among Tunisia's youth, who have insufficient means to voice their concerns; and 4) many Tunisians aren’t so sure now that democracy will work in their country. The paper's authors conclude their analysis by recommending ways that the Tunisian government might address these problems.
