This commentary highlights the growing availability of liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the global market and the opportunities it provides the EU to diversify its energy supplies and pay less for them. The text's author also explores how these developments will impact 1) the Baltic States and Poland, where Russian gas supplies predominated until recently, and 2) Gazprom’s future European gas export strategy.
