This issue of the JTR focuses on 1) the relationship between social media, online radicalization and the practice of political jamming; 2) how the Obama administration missed the opportunities presented by the Arab Awakening; 3) the ties that exist between fundamentalism and terrorism; 4) the effectiveness of terrorist rehabilitation and de-radicalization programs, with an particular emphasis on Indonesia; 5) the ideological dimensions of the fight against jihadist movements; 6) whether a framework used by the US Armed Forces to analyze propaganda in World War II is applicable to the digital messaging performed by today’s amorphous enemies; and 7) the strategic logic behind ISIS’ practice of beheading people.
