This edition of UJIEL features 7 articles and 1 editorial that focus on various aspects of public international law and policy. The articles specifically zero in on 1) Yemen’s attempted transition from a unitary to a federal system of governance; 2) the voting restrictions put on non-resident citizens, which are an unjust restriction on human rights; 3) the techniques used by civil society to document serious human rights violations; 4) the nature of ‘third wave’ human rights fact-finding practices; 5) the legal dimensions of maritime piracy; 6) the ‘lawyering’ of the MH17 disaster; and 7) the difficulties of prosecuting crimes committed by ISIS.
