This paper examines US political strategies in Iraq and Afghanistan. The study highlights the escalation in attacks on Iraq's economic infrastructure, especially its oil industry, and assesses the funding aspects of the US occupation in the two countries. It outlines the US' dilemma of seeking to maintain control without provoking insurgent attacks.
