This paper details how many prominent and committed supporters of friendly transatlantic relations have identified climate change as one of the most important global problems in the 21st century. The authors detail the rifts in climate policy between the United States and Europe as a result of the Kyoto Protocol. The paper investigates the history of transatlantic climate policy and relations, examines the major issues of contention and explores options for a transatlantic reconciliation on global climate policies.
