This paper examines the value of Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in Iraq and their impact on the daily life of soldiers. The authors explore the facets of fighting from FOBs and describe the advantages of such installations. The paper concludes that fighting from FOBs has changed the fighting capacities of US combat soldiers but some problems still need to be considered.
