This paper reveals the challenges and prospects of a human rights foreign policy development in the European Union. The study examines the tension between human rights and international relations. It provides an overview of the objectives of the EU's human rights policy and discusses the approaches developed by EU institutions and member states. Additionally, it looks at the EU's external economic relations and its development cooperation policies in the context of the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP).
