This paper examines the impact of contractual relations between EC/EU and Central and Eastern European countries in solving local conflicts. The study first discusses the sources of local conflicts in Europe and then assesses the mechanisms of conflict prevention and crisis management. It stresses the importance of the regional integration to consolidate the peace among EU states and evaluates legal foundations for such agreements.
