This paper analyzes the process of recovery from economic collapse in the special case of an oil-producing country. It argues that demand-side factors play a strategic role in ensuring a swift recovery, in conjunction with the removal of supply-side constraints. In this perspective, the paper considers the case of post-war recovery in Iraq.
