This paper examines the strategic relationship between the United States and New Zealand. The author provides a comprehensive overview of the politics in both countries influencing bilateral relations. The paper concludes that if New Zealand is to avoid being left standing unheeded outside the council rooms, while within its friends shape the future world, it must first recover the best possible relationship with the United States and the economically powerful European countries and Japan.
