This paper examines the process of establishing a revised US security structure for the post-Cold War world. The author argues that in order to keep up with a rapidly changing world, the US must eliminate organizational shortcomings in its national security structure. The paper offers a set of guidelines that should be taken into account and concludes that change is imperative, as the United States could otherwise become a superpower emeritus.
