This report assesses the landscape in the Middle East and identifies the obstacles and paths to peace in the current climate. It argues that as long as the political roots of the Arab-Israeli conflict are not addressed, it will remain a source and pretext for repression, radicalization and bloodletting, both in the region and beyond. In view of the apparent willingness of Syria, Palestine and Israel for a new peace process, the report urges the international community to overcome its reluctance to act and launch a new peace initiative.
