This paper discusses the rise of the retail sector in India and the challenges that come along with it. It further discusses opportunities for foreign investors, especially in the agricultural sector and the food processing industry. The author concludes that the Indian retail sector cannot be competitive until the supply chain is fully integrated, efficient and customer-focused.
