This publication discusses the impact of China's regional rise, especially with regard to US influence in the region. The author argues that China poses only a limited challenge, especially since its leadership follows policies that do not require major changes by its neighboring countries. The paper demonstrates that the US continues to show influence in Asia in concrete ways and that Asian governments hedge and maneuver against Chinese dominance. The author claims that the limited challenge is due to a US administration determined and prepared to confront opponents.
