This publication examines the economic impact of globalization in India. The author first analyzes the nature and extent of India's integration into the world economy along three dimensions: flows of good and services, capital flow and migration of people. The study delineates three broad periods of India's economic history and finds that the basis for critical assessments has little merit when examined in relation to Indian experience. The author concludes that India has been a significant beneficiary of globalization: The country has experienced economic and industrial growth, improved competitiveness, declining economic crises and welfare enhancement.
