This book discusses the impact of Mediterranean transit migration on Europe and its neighboring regions. The volume details how international migration, whether in the form of labor migration or refugee movements, has not only become a concern for source and destination countries, but increasingly also for the transit countries involved. The book is based on a meeting held in Copenhagen, Denmark in January 2005, at which interested European partners met with seven Arab partner states to discuss medium and long-term issues relating to the combating of irregular migration flows through development cooperation and better joint management of migration, including readmission, return and reintegration issues.
