This report discusses security sector reform in the Middle East with a particular focus on the Arabian peninsula states. The authors examine the status quo of the security sector in the region and analyze the general prospects for security transparency and accountability there. The report addresses the international concerns relating to terrorism in the Middle East and details how security sector reform may be an important strategic goal, but not necessarily a top priority for many of the regional governments.
