This report summarizes the conclusions of the Long-Term Defense Planning (LTDP) Seminar organized by the NATO Defense College in October 2003. The report addresses the seminar’s presentations and discussions, which fell into three broad categories: LTDP definitions, advantages and principles, the challenges of LTDP, and best practices in long-range planning. Seminar participants also discussed an LTDP model for individual nations and the NATO alliance as a whole.
