This paper discusses the threat of weapons of mass destruction to the US and its allies. It examines current trends in the national security strategy and presents strategy and policy to oppose the threat. The US defense planning is discussed as well as challenges and opportunities for the future. The paper concludes with remarks of US President George W Bush and Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul D Wolfowitz.
