This paper looks at the rekindled interest in NATO’s nuclear deterrence strategy, which has been spurred by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and the nuclear threats that have accompanied it. More specifically, the text’s author 1) traces the sequence of events which sparked NATO’s policy adjustment, and 2) examines the challenges Brussels faces in sustaining the credibility of its deterrence.
