This issue covers recent and historic developments in the Arab world and in Southwest Asia, including options for US policy toward Iraq, social and political repercussions of the October 2005 earthquake in Pakistan and the changing policy of Turkey toward its Kurdish minority. Further topics include the way to peace after the civil war in Tajikistan in 1997, the economic and human drain from Iran to Dubai and other countries as well as the Sudanese experience with al-Qaida in the first half of the 1990s.
