This paper examines the potential security implications of collaborating with Israel, particularly in the case of European counterterrorism. Despite the sophisticated domestic security mechanisms Israel has created, the text’s author argues that policy makers should carefully evaluate the applicability, transferability and long-term consequences of Israeli counterterrorism strategies within a European context. Further, the author argues that Israel’s occasionally tense relationship with Europe poses an obstacle to the former’s sale of security technologies to European states, especially since such transactions are often concealed from public view.
