Dec 2006

This publication examines the impact of politicized religion for the democratic peace in Israel. It outlines the discussion of democratic peace and reviews literature on religion and politics in international relations and conflict research. The author discusses how politicized religious actors might contribute to spoiling the democratic peacefulness and preventing non-violent conflict resolution in Israel. She elaborates on the origins of two competing versions of the Jewish national project, a secular-liberal and a religious one.
