This briefing examines the influence of the war in Iraq on Egypt and addresses the issue of political reform in Egypt. It explains that political participation and economic development are core issues of Egyptian political debate. The briefing argues that there are new developments concerning the integration of youth and the general consensus for a more inclusive political system. It proposes an honest debate on the content of reform as opposed to a sterile confrontation of rival monologues.
