This paper studies the effects on corruption of having contradictory norms for allocating micro-coordination modes across society. According to the author, fast change is one important reason for the coexistence of these norms. The article exposes the notion of micro-coordination mode and discusses its usefulness for explaining corruption. The examples outlined by the author are corruption in land allocation in Kenya, the economic transition in post-communist countries and the global telecommunications industry.
