This paper discusses the role and responsibility of the United States in rebuilding Afghanistan. The author details the US strategic interests and security policies at stake in Afghanistan. The paper explains how there is an urgent need for a more active commitment of US resources and influence to the political and economic aspects of the Afghan reconstruction effort.
