This publication discusses the growing demand for energy in the Asia-Pacific region, driven by rapid economic and population growth. It states that in the face of booming electricity needs - but fearful of environmental pollution from coal and oil - the countries of this region are looking at other energy sources such as natural gas and nuclear power, as well as renewable hydro and geothermal power, to help stabilize and reduce the greenhouse effect.
