This paper addresses the protection of intellectual property in Asia. The author argues that strong US and European pressure, as well as changes in the world economy, have induced Asian countries to strengthen theirs laws against intellectual property violations. The paper explores how stronger intellectual property rights (IPR) brought different results in the Japanese and Korean pharmaceutical industries and discusses the basic differences in Western and Asian IPR cultures.
