This paper addresses processes damaging the global environment such as the constant growth of the world's population and energy consumption. The author suggests three possible solutions to the problem of a deteriorating environment: acknowledging that the world lacks the political will to prevent many of the threats it faces, diversifying the responses to the environmental crisis and developing capacities to adapt to environmental changes that may be inevitable.
