This paper analyzes Japan's modern history and the prospects for another round of reforms, which stagnant economic growth, pressures from an uneasy electorate, worried Asian neighbors and the US could make necessary. The author also discusses the promises for extensive reform that have been made in Japan and the post-war economic success that has had an influence on the population's stance toward economic change. The paper also tackles the issue of how misunderstandings about regional political and security issues threaten the Japan-US relationship.
