This paper analyzes India and US relations since the end of the Cold War. The author states that bilateral talks have been constructive and suggest a growing recognition on the part of both sides of the common interest in preserving South Asian regional security and stability. The publication also discusses the divergence of Indian and US interests on questions such as nuclear weapons, NATO's activism and the unilateral intervention by states into internal conflicts. The author further suggests that US rhetoric about constructing a "strategic partnership" with China remains another stumbling block to developing Indian-American relations.
