This paper contains six chapters, each examining political participation and empowerment, particularly concerning women in post-conflict situations. The authors explain the potential value of gender-based discourse to analysis on nationalism, society and political influence. Several case studies help the authors highlight how female agency can be hindered, but also developed, under the influences of political history, cultural values and traditional society.
