This edition of the RAD focuses on the interrelationship between nuclear energy and Russian foreign policy. The first article examines the public debate in Finland over Rosatom (a Russian state corporation) building the Fennovima nuclear plant. What’s worrying here is the number of Finnish political and economic actors who insist this deal has nothing to do with foreign and security policy. The second article then traces the waning cooperation between Russia and Ukraine on nuclear energy. Indeed, Kiev has significantly accelerated its efforts to lessen its dependence on Russian companies, with nuclear fuel cooperation being the only area which is likely to continue in the near future.
