This article reviews the international and domestic politics of International Monetary Fund (IMF) programs and their influence on economic reform. The author examines the influence of US foreign policy and international financiers on the IMF and assesses the causes of government compliance with conditionality. In conclusion, the author calls for a revision of IMF policy.
