This paper discusses the importance of agricultural development in poverty alleviation processes. The authors explain that the key concern driving the renewed international focus on farming is the wish to increase the contribution of agricultural growth to poverty reduction. The paper provides a suggestion of five strategies for supporting public policy interventions in favor of pro-poor agricultural growth.
