This report approaches immigration through the lens of economics. The author focuses on the economic costs and benefits of legal and illegal immigration and argues that contrary to conventional wisdom, stemming illegal immigration would likely lead to a net drain on the US economy. The paper concludes with guidelines for a redesign of US immigration laws and policy.
