Dec 2006

This publication examines the Russian perspective on North Korea's nuclear program and the country's standing in Northeast Asia. It identifies a gap between Russia and the US over the proper way to deal with proliferation. The authors see the reasons for this in their preferences to different models of resolving proliferation issues and also in Russia's interests in the region that are premised on a formally equal relationship and engagement with both Korean states.
