This paper offers insights into the Chinese People's Liberation Army. It focuses in particular on the operations, training and doctrine of the Second Artillery Corps, the Chinese strategic rocket forces. The author identifies a perception of the US as a major threat among Chinese leaders and military thinkers. He discusses the reasons for this perception and shows the responses reflected in Chinese military thinking and planning.
